Notes on Catcher in the Rye

Holden Caulfield is the main character
Is a troubled man and goes to Pensey prep
Has no Want for school and likes his prep school but still wants no part of it
Goes and talks to mr. Spencer where he tells Holden to try in school and gives him motivation
Chapter 4 introduces you to Ackley
He's a rather annoying character who is hated by most people at the prep school and most notably hated by Holden's roommate Stradlater
Holden and Stradlater talk and Stradlater tells Holden about a date he's going on with a girl named Jane Gallagher a girl that Holden has rather strong feelings for
Holden goes on an outing with Ackley and comes out with some news he tells Ackley about a girl that he has slept with and also talks about his younger brother Allie and how he died a couple years earlier from cancer and tells him how nice and smart he was showing how he is still sad about the loss
Tensions flare between Stradlater and Holden between school and his date they wrestle a little bit the. Stradlater gets mad and punches Holden in the nose
Holden leaves his school annoyed with Stradlater's actions and wants to run away with Ackley and join a monetary he leaves and doesn't go back
Holden gets on a train to new York and makes up a lie about who he is to a classmates mother
Holden goes to a night club his first night in new York and orders drinks and since he looks older he is able to pull it off
Holden takes a cab to another night club and in the cab he continues to talk to the cab driver
What is it with cab drivers that makes him so talkative with them?
Mad about things in his life he orders a prostitute and when she comes he says he's unable for sex because he has had surgery
Holden goes to meet his sister phoebe at the park but she isnt there and is at a school field trip
He also goes on a date with a girl he likes named Sally
Holden goes to visit his family at their apartment and sneaks in to find his sister Phoebe
He talks to his sister about his life and everything he has been doing lately
