Ap test expectations

The test on the 3 essays was not as difficult as I expected. I did expect it to be all about main characters and their experiences in the novel. Nothing was much unexpected I wouldn't think but I did find it difficult to manage my time with a short period of time. I learned that the ap essay topics don't want specific details but rather your feelings or what you got from a character. I felt my performance in the clutch was rather good I don't crumble under pressure and can usually focus when I need to.

Tale of Two Cities

Manchester was the 3rd city involved
In 1857 Dickens assisted in writing and acted in the play The Frozen Deep
There's a sort of parallelism between A Tale of Two Cities and The Frozen Deep
In 1858 he became known as the greatest reader of the greatest writer
Was inspired to write Tale of Two Cities from his childhood growing up in London
London and Paris are the two cities
Was written around the French Revolution
Dickens didn't really like the revolution but interesting enough incorporated it all in the novel Tale of Two Cities
when he visited Paris he thought it was the most amazing place and he visited it more then 15 times
The novel came out chapter by chapter not all at once
Many of the characters in the novel were based off of real life people Dickens knew

Why he wrote it

Charles Dickens wrote the novel Great Expectations in order to depict not only his life but the life of a orphan or poor person in England At that time. Pip is supposed to represent Dickens lifestyle and the struggles that he went through. I also think that maybe he wrote it so that it could inspire other poor people to do something with their lives, since the novel was written in the language of the poor maybe he wanted to teach them something.

Great Expectations

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is one of the few story's that depict Charles Dickens actual life he loved when he was growing up. He grew up as a young boy who fought poverty often. The story begins in England where a boy named Philip Pirrip (Pip) is described as a poor orphan boy, much like Charles Dickens childhood. Pip is looking at his parents gravestones in the graveyard when suddenly a man in chains grabs him and forces Pip to bring him food and something to cut through his chains. All of these thigs that happen in the beginning of this story make you think what kind of life Charles Dickens actually led. This makes you also think what parts of his life did he also include into his other novels because he lived such a different life that maybe there are other parts of his life he includes in his other great novels.
